Suncare should always be an important consideration when it comes to summer adventures. Sun protection is one of the biggest precautions you can take to save yourself from long-term damage when it comes to UV rays, and there’s a lot more to consider when it comes to preparing for a beach trip than not forgetting a swimsuit. Here we’re going to break down how to prepare for fun in the sun this summer!
Anytime you’re getting ready to go outside, even for a little, sunblock is key! Apply sunscreen prior to getting to the beach, while you’re still indoors. Reapplication is vital, so make sure to lather up every two hours. Even if you’re just walking around outside don’t forget to touch up.
Setting a reminder on your phone to reapply every two hours is a great idea to get into the habit of remembering. Whether it’s adding face sunscreen or lip balm with extra protection to your car, bathroom, or by the keys, make sure you have it in visible spots. If you’ve had serious sunburns in the past, make sure to apply more here!
Collagen, collagen, collagen! Sun exposure breaks down collagen in our skin, so drinking collagen after can offset some of that decline. Drinking an extra dose of collagen can also help with topical application of aloe vera if you have serious burns after, so make sure you pack your favorite Crushed Tonic products!
After a day in the sun (with reapplications we hope!), make sure you're washing all the product and sweat of the day off. Ingredients like zinc and titanium dioxide in physical sunscreens can be pesky to remove, so use a gel-based cleanser. When you shower, try using an exfoliant to get off any stubborn residue.
Spending time in the sun is a great way to enjoy your summer, but you should always keep in mind the dangers that come with sun damage over time. Remember to prepare for any vacations or adventures by bringing the appropriate sun protection, and don’t forget to reapply!
