C'T Series #5: Emma Goodman | The Skin Witch

SO I REALIZED IN ANSWERING MY OWN INTERVIEWS RECENTLY THAT SOME QUESTIONS DURING THESE WERE FAR FROM PERSONAL. WHICH IS TOTALLY FINE; INTERVIEWS ARE FOR US TO TALK ABOUT OUR WORK! STILL, SOMETIMES AS READERS, WE ARE LEFT WANTING TO GET TO KNOW THAT PERSON BEYOND THEIR CAREER— AND I THINK IT'S A SHAME THAT SOME OF THESE SUPER IMPRESSIVE PERSONALITIES AROUND US ARE NOT ALSO RECOGNIZED FOR HOW KIND, SPUNKY, GOOFY, AND FUNNY THEY ARE. WHICH IS WHY I WANTED TO ADD EXTRA SPICE TO THE QUESTIONS THAT I ASK— AND TO SHOW THAT THE INCREDIBLE HUSTLERS YOU SEE HERE AND READ ABOUT ARE 1000% HUMAN, EVEN IF THESE SUPERWOMEN SEEM BEYOND IT SOMETIMES!

MEET EMMA GOODMAN

Emma Goodman is aka “the skin witch” and a Holistic Esthetician and Healer. Emma is a certified skin therapist, nutritional coach, and have certifications in Reiki, Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Chakra Balancing, Yoga, as a Doula, Fingernail and Tongue Analaysis, Dien Chan Facial Reflexology, and currently studying Ear Seeding and Shiva Murti, a Balinese Energy Healing Technique.

Emma's facial is GENUINELY the best facial I've ever had-- the healing energy in the room was also so beautiful. It felt like I was shedding POUNDS of stress off my shoulders. I really can't explain it! You don't go to Emma for just the facial (although it is legit the best); you go for the whole experience of it. If you live in LA, and you haven't seen Emma, you're missing out! When I posted her (which I did it out of entirely free will), I had so many people reach out to me saying they have also seen Emma and that she was their favorite as well (the sheer volume of those messages to this day, has never happened again).

For those of you who don't know Emma personally, she is such a sweet angel beyond-professionally. She is someone whose light just shines out of her! She's passionate, talented, and kind-- and an amazing mother as well, to the cutest little mini-Emma!

What role do you think collagen plays in skin and hair?

A huge part! Collagen is everything! It’s what keeps our skin plump and keeps our skin and hair looking healthy and young! We lose a small percentage of collagen each year so we need to supplement. I am in love with the Crushed Tonic collagen  packets! It has done wonders to my hair, nails, and skin!

What results were you the happiest about from Crushed Tonic? How long did it take for your results to take place?

I took about 30 days like any new product or supplement. It’s so easy to use and it’s starts my day out. It’s really helped with the plumpness of my skin. I’m 38 and no matter what my skin is different now. I try and take good care of the inside so that the outside glows.

Favorite Crushed Tonic flavor? OR Favorite Crushed Tonic recipe?Favorite is the Matcha. I use every morning!

I use the original just in water through the day if I don’t have time to eat and in between working on clients.

I use the turmeric one with warmed but milk before bed each night for inflammation and it helps me relax and get ready for bed. I also use the turmeric in my morning oatmeal with honey and coconut oil or ghee.

Q&A

Describe yourself in 3 words:

Supportive, Loving, Driven

Do you believe you’ve found your calling?

100%! I love helping others on their healing journey.

What motivates you?

My daughter and giving her the best life, human connection, and serving others.

Who was integral in helping you get to where you are today?

My own healing journey and all the hiccups along the way. My stomach issues as a teen, discovering holistic wellness when I finally learned that I was Celiac, and peeling back layers of emotional baggage I was holding into. I wanted to teach my clients about Eastern based medicine and how to heal the skin from within.

I also suffered a great loss of my husband at age 30, while I was pregnant with my daughter. He died on a motorcycle during my first trimester. It changed me in many ways. My spirituality deepened and I wanted to support people emotionally as well as physically. It made me wake up to living more presently. It changed the course of my life.

What is your mantra?

Everything is neutral, your thoughts create the perception of out reality. There are no problems, just how we look at them.

Who are you inspired by?

Women entrepreneurs and women who support other women inspire me. I love collaborating with other strong women and holding each other up. We are powerful beyond measure and it’s such a beautiful time to change the paradigm. Women who speak up and stand in their truth inspire me!

Emma's Advice & Tips

You’ve been working so hard— and we are all in awe! What are 3 tips you can give your community when it comes to being a female entrepreneur?

Follow your excitement! Believe that you can have anything that you desire, I’m a huge believer that hard work pays off with the right intentions. Start your brand based on your passion and love for it, not what you will get out of it.

What’s your daily workout routine? How many times do you workout a week?

I work out with my trainer once a week and try to workout on my own 2-3 xs per week. I foam roll daily, stretch, sometimes jump on the trampoline with my kiddo.  I do strength training with weights a few times per week and walk everyday. Cardio 2 xs per week and occasional yoga or barre. Since the quarantine it’s been a little off.

What are some things everybody should know when it comes to wellness?

Water and hydration is the most important thing when it comes to health and wellness. You should be drinking half your weight in ounces each day and even more if you drink caffeine. Wellness comes from within. I bring in diet, stress management, meditation and rituals into my skincare practice for my clients.

What is your skincare routine? OR What are 3 other foods or supplements you try to incorporate to your diet daily routinely?

I cleanse with Skin Worship’s cleansing ritual, tone with heritage rose water, MBR’s crosslift ultrapeptide (alternative to Botox), 1xs per week I dermaroll with a .5 dermaroller, alternate OSEA’s hyaluronic acid and 302 cerimides, Skin Worship’s Ritual Hydrating 2 moisturizer, and their Dew Drops face oils and  Gua Sha after at every night. I use Kora Organics eye oil daily and 2-3 xs per week I use a 302 Avocado mask for hydration and anti-aging. To exfoliate I use MBR’s enzyme exfoliant 2-3 xs per week And my daily SPF is Alastin Tinted Spf 36 (which works as a makeup/ coverup)

I use Crushed tonic Collagen daily, Vit C and D liquid, Wellness support multi, a Herbal tincture for stress and hormones made by my Naturopath, Ionic Zinc for immunity, thieves oil, 5 HTP and Magnesium Glycinate at night for sleep and emotional support, Bach flower essences, Cod Liver oil for skin and brain, and iron.

For food, I food combine. Protein and veggies, fruit by itself, if I do eat a carb it’s gluten free as I’m Celiac and I combine with veggies or a salad. Dark chocolate as a sweet. When I’m around my cycle I eat more green leafy veggies to help filter out excess estrogen.

I has done wonders to my hair, nails, and skin!

Any wellness or skincare/ hair tips? OR Any morning / evening rituals?

Skin tips: dry brushing the body each morning with a boar bristle brush and applying an oil on the body bride jumping into the shower. I use a rose almond body oil or Osea’s Argan body oil and the heat of the water absorbs the oil into my skin.

Hair tips: I use Coconut Oil on my hair as a mask a few times per week to hydrate dry hair. I always rinse my hair at the end of the shower with cold water and deep breathe through the cold 1-2 min to help strengthen my immune system.

Favorite Crushed Tonic flavor? OR Favorite Crushed Tonic recipe?

Favorite is the Matcha. I use every morning!

And now for the tea...

Celebrity (or non-celebrity) crush:

Brad Pitt and Lenny Kravitz: so sexy with age

How to get you to respond to a DM:
