Anti-Anxiety, Anti-Insomnia, Anti-Sadness
Dear our beloved community:
It's been a really amazing, incredible journey with you all since launching this beautiful brand and taking my first step in building it all 3-4 years ago.
I'd love to say it was all butterflies and sunshine, but it wasn't. It was a lot of grueling work; my alarm would go off at 4AM and I'd be working until 12AM. It took a huge toll on my body, and more importantly, my brain. My sleep cycles, my moods, my anxiety; all became so out of whack. Then, the pandemic hit, and I thought for a bit that our brand wouldn't recover. It fortunately did, thanks to you all; but before it got better, it got worse. I lost my grandmother, who raised me, and long story short, it spiraled downhill for me for more than 8 months following. There were times that I no longer thought I was cut out to lead a growing brand like Crushed Tonic; but what I realized in those few months, is that this community was the only thing helping me fight the grief I was going through. Without you all as my purpose, I would have crumbled a long time ago; yet I'm still here, standing on my two feet, manufacturing our newest flavors and SKUs and smiling again.
I am sharing this personal story because I know that I am not the only one in this world dealing with the stress, tension, anxiety, and a plethora of negative emotions on a regular basis, be it at work or personal lives. And of course, adding all of the uncertainty caused by the unprecedented Covid-19; all has affected each individual and the world's status quo of mental health even more. It seems that psychological immunity— being in a good place mentally + being in a “good mood”— is even harder to reach, as of recent.
Which is why I started researching supplements to help boost my mental health.
So I've come up with the formula that I started taking daily once I realized that I needed external support. This is the concoction I have been taking everyday since I was at my lowest, and have helped me so much!
Here, I've done the work for you so you don't have to; and same as the process I've gone through with collagen, I've done the vetting and testing for you!
However, they are not up for launch just yet— but your pre-order of them will help us gain momentum for them as we start manufacturing. It may take a few months for these to be up and running, so please be patient with us; but meanwhile, know that you're helping us achieve our dreams of making this world a better, happier place (something that I've become so beyond passionate of personally!).
Serotonin booster: an amino acid found naturally in the body, which could be converted into serotonin that regulates mood and melatonin for balancing sleep cycles. Studies have revealed that this serotonin booster has a positive effect on the mood, when you feel low and tired. These supplements are also used to treat depression. These supplements improve structure of sleep by extending the amount of time you spend in REM sleep in which your brain processes memories.
GABA: Gamma-Aminobutyric acid acts as a neurotransmitter, facilitating communication among brain cells. It has a wide range of effects on the body and mind, such as reduced stress, better relaxation, and a calmer, more balanced mood. It also provides pain relief to a certain extent and helps to sleep fitfully. While GABA is found naturally in fermented foods such as kefir, yogurt, and tempeh, along with varieties of green, black, and oolong tea, it is available as a supplement too. These are often used for treating high blood pressure, stress and anxiety. There are several medications that interact with GABA and GABA receptors in the brain, altering their function to achieve certain effects, typically relaxation, pain relief, stress and anxiety reduction, lower blood pressure, and improved sleep.
Magnesium: You are likely to feel tired and irritable during the day if you don’t sleep well at night. Magnesium is necessary for the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for the sleep cycle. It is also important for energy metabolism, reducing tiredness and fatigue, and normal functioning of nervous system. Stress and tension can drain the magnesium from your body, but a supplement can restore the feeling of wellbeing. According to a study, this mineral has helped to alleviate PMS symptoms such as pain and bloating, along with premenstrual mood changes.
Probiotics: Probiotics are actually live bacteria that benefit digestive health and improve overall immunity. However, recent studies have suggested they might also influence psychological health. They can affect the brain by regulating production of serotonin within the gut wall, which lifts moods and combats anxiety and depression. Probiotics are included in our Matcha Crushes or Original Crushes.
Of course, please consult a doctor before taking any mood supplements or if you are taking prescribed medication as they might contain ingredients that don’t suit you!
