When to Take Collagen: Morning or Night?

You may be wondering the best time to take your collagen: though there is no perfect time to take it, there are different benefits depending on what you hope to get out of your collagen supplement. Keep reading to see when is best for you individually to take your favorite Crushed Tonic product!

There is no secret time that will magically make collagen work.

There will be many benefits that you will notice if you routinely take the supplement, regardless of the time of day that you choose to take it. 

Most people choose to take their collagen in the morning. We personally like to take it in the morning as it's a great time to take collagen and you get to start your day off with 10g of protein to keep you feeling full and satiated.

We recommend in the morning you start ooff with our Matcha Crushes or Coffee Tubbies, you will get your daily dose of collagen along with a side of caffeine to start your day.

Collagen as Night Cap

Collagen’s connection to sleep is particularly interesting. The amino acid glycine in collagen has been proven to help improve sleep when taken before bed. If you have had trouble sleeping or are just looking to get a better night’s rest, try switching up your routine and taking collagen before you go to bed and see if it affects your sleep!

Our favorite "night cap" crush is the turmeric crush, made with warm oatmilk-- here's our founder's favorite recipe:

TURMERIC CINNAMON MILK WITH TURMERIC CRUSH

INGREDIENTS
1 turmeric #CrushedTonic
1 cup vanilla almond milk
1 tsp honey or monkfruit
1/4 tsp cinnamon (ground)
1/4 tsp ginger (ground)
1/4 tsp cardamom (optional)

DIRECTIONS
Heat milk and honey in small saucepan to low boil, then remove from heat. Whisk in #CrushedTonic and spices until smoothly blended. Add cinnamon stick for extra flavor if desired and enjoy!

And of course, our flavors that include caffeine are not as recommended for the evening; we recommend that you take them at least six hours before you plan to go to bed, as caffeine any later can cause sleep issues.
